A historic landmark, the San Marco Hotel was built in 1926–1927 and designed in the Mediterranean Revival style by architect Franklin O. Adams. From 1932 to 1970, it served as the winter headquarters of the Kentucky Military Institute (KMI). In the 1970s, the building was converted to a mixed-use property, featuring retail space on the ground floor and residential condominiums above. Today, it is known officially as the San Marco Building.
